Sunday of Memorial Day weekend was tough especially since I was alone before heading to the cabin with Cory's Family. When I am with his family it seems to help but it is nice just to be around people & I still don't know if I am using that as an avoidance tool. When your busy or with others you tend not to cry in front of people. We went to Memorial Day parade with Cory's parents & brother along with his family and Kris & Nathanial then Memorial Day speech. After the speech we all went to Cory's site met up with my parents & Anecia, Otte family, Grandma D. and Omsie, Kerry Hansen family, Ron & Evie, Carl and had some time there. After time at Cory's site some went to Ron & Evie's cabin and spent family time together, Ryan & his family came, my parents came, Troy Schwarze family came Sunday, Gage Chaffee family came Monday, Jody Hansen, Deannie & Jenna Smith, Otte family came Monday. We had many phone calls and texts and others that stopped at Cory's site. Who ever thought that there would be a time when Memorial Day would be the day that we would be remembering my husband and my son's daddy? It is still hard to realize it is a reality and when looking at that dirt with fresh grass trying to grow because that ground was dug up for my husband, your brother, your friend, your son, your daddy....no words can describe the saddness...
Take time to remember Cory's smile & laugh. Remember him visiting with you. Asking or giving advise to you. Remember fun times shared with him. Remember how he loved to see you laugh & smile. He saw the good in everyone. Cory was happy to be who he was. Cory appreciated all of his blessings and knew he had a good life, didn't ask for more. Everyone who knew him loved him and will miss him; so on this Memorial Day and everyone from now on, we will all remember this Great Man Cory.
